Summary of Position

The Tester performs a range of functions to assist in the successful delivery of testing engagement and is a critical member of the software development and quality assurance teams, responsible for the quality of release for user acceptance testing.

Major Responsibilities

Software System Testing

  • Performs intermediate level testing tasks requiring strong analytical skills, interpretation of test cases and scripts, planning & scheduling of technical activities
  • Review of requirements, preparation and execution of test cases, defect reporting and tracking
  • Meet test requirements, schedule, and test milestones
  • Perform ad hoc/exploratory testing and defect characterization, writes clear and concise defect reports & performs or directs test case maintenance
  • Ensures that all test activities are properly executed, documented, and reported
  • Actively involved in defect finding & trouble shooting, reporting and verification, suggesting root causes reporting test results
  • Effectively communicate and track issues discovered during testing and working directly with Test Manager and/or Senior Tester, application developers, and project manager toward issue resolutions

Desired Skills and Experience


  • Engineering, Science or Computer Science undergraduate degree/diploma, or equivalent work experience

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience developing software applications. With an emphasis on test development
  • Ability to travel 50 – 75% at a minimum with periods of 100% travel
  • Previous experience working in a team with more and less experienced engineers
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and support unscheduled events
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and self-manage multiple project tasks
  • Candidate must have a software development background with an excellent grasp on programming logic
  • Able to leverage functional requirements documents, existing system tests and a solid knowledge of intranet-based solutions to perform black-box testing
  • Able to work in a collaborative environment where requirements will be written and spoken and must be understood and captured in such a fluid environment
  • Strong collaboration skills, strong organization and logic skills, exceptionally speedy and accurate with the ability to see the critical path for testing
  • Knowledge of TFS and automation of testing is a plus
  • Pega certification a plus
